A Zimbabwe delegation led by Zanu PF Youth League Secretary for Commissariat, Cde Taurai Kandishaya donated books worth over US$3 000 to the University of Botswana.
The books include the Brick by Brick and Life of Sacrifice, which depicts President Mnangagwa’s biography.

They were handed over to the university during the Southern African Universities Debate Challenge held at the University of Botswana in Gaborone.

The event was attended by students from Zimbabwean universities and they stole the limelight.

Speaking at the event, Cde Kandishaya said they are helping people to think critically and engage with the world around them.

“We need to connect what we discuss in universities to real-world situations,” he said.

“This is why we want to build strong relationships with the debate community. Together, we can spread the culture and spirit of debate throughout our societies.

“We are helping more people to think critically and engage with the world around them. I am also excited to mention that Zimbabwe, under the leadership of President Mnangagwa, is about to take over the chairmanship of SADC.”

Cde Kandishaya said President Mnangagwa’s role opens new opportunities for Zimbabwe to strengthen its engagement and ensure that no one and no place is left behind.

“To our amazing debators, you are the future of our communities. You are the ones who can bring change and make a difference,” he said.

“Use your talent and voices to address the pressing issues of our time – inequality, poverty, discrimination, climate change, and the challenges brought by technology. Note that we are here to support you in this mission.”

Cde Kandishaya said people can build a society where critical thinking and open dialogue are the norms.
