Zim for wrestling champs

THE recently revived Zimbabwe Professional Wrestling continues its steady rise following their invitation to a world tour wrestling exhibition in South Africa early next month.

The exhibition, set for December 10 will see high profile wrestling international personnel on a charm offensive to touch base with supporters touring the world. In Africa they will visit two countries South Africa and Nigeria.

The exhibition will be graced by some of the iconic wrestling names like American professional wrestler Paul Donald II, popularly known as Big Show, who is currently on the books of WWE on the Raw brand. Fellow American professional wrestler, actor and former Canadian professional footballer Roman Reigns will also be part of the high profile names present.

Professional wrestling in Zimbabwe has been literary non-existent since their participation at the 1995 All Africa Games, officially it was not a recognised sport in Zimbabwe as it is not an affiliate of the Sports and Recreation Commission.

But the game was revived in April this year and in August they staged a tournament in Chegutu. Last month another tournament was staged at Harare Gardens while they were scheduled to stage another tournament in Mbare last week, which has since been postponed.
