Zim gets top spot

Zimbabwe has been elected as the deputy chair of the International Renewable Energy Agency.

This was announced by the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Monica Mutsvangwa while addressing the 17th post-Cabinet press briefing Tuesday.

The country will be represented by the permanent secretary in the Ministry of Energy and Power Development, Engineer Gloria Magombo.

The Agency is chaired by Japan.

The Agency is an intergovernmental organisation mandated to facilitate cooperation, advance knowledge, and promote the adoption and sustainable use of renewable energy.

It has 164 members and is headquartered in Abu Dhabi.
