Zim inflation to remain in single digits in 2026: Mthuli

Zimbabwe’s inflation will remain in single digits throughout 2026, Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube has said.

The Finance Minister made the remarks during a brief appearance at the ongoing Insurance and Pensions Symposium in Victoria Falls on Friday.

“What is abnormal is to be above 10 percent inflation, 30 percent, 100 percent, 500 percent as we used to be.

“That’s a thing of the past. We’ve seen the latest inflation figures—the last three: 4,1 percent in January, 3,8 percent in February, and 4, 4 percent for this month,” he said.

He acknowledged the possible impact of geopolitical factors.

“We see a slight blip. I won’t say the figure, but I have it. So, a bit of a blip because of the war in Iran and the increase in oil prices.

“That’s a small blip, but we’ll stay within single-digit inflation for the whole of 2026, and that will be the new normal,” said Professor Ncube.
