Zim Institute of Management opens regional offices

A function to officially open the offices was recently held in the city and attended by business executives from the city. ZIM president, who was the guest of honour, Mr John Chikura, said his organisation’s vision was to be the leading voice and centre of reference in corporate leadership and management to promote and develop best practices.

“As a training organisation, ZIM plays a critical role in developing and equipping corporations with human resource capital and the institute weighs in with management training programmes which make manpower ready and useful for industry and commerce,” he said.

He said the prosperity of a nation was tied to the prosperity of the companies and gave an example of Bulawayo industries that were ailing and in dire need of urgent revamption.

Mr Chikura urged corporate managers to be knowledgeable and widely read to keep themselves up to date.

“Corporate managers should participate in continued professional development as one does not know what skills would be required tomorrow,” he said.

He bemoaned lack of business ethics and good corporate governance giving rise to corruption, corporate scandals and poverty.

“We encourage leaders to be visionary and practice good corporate governance and business ethics,” said Mr Chikura.

ZIM regional manager Mrs Felistas Sakone said she was happy the institute had secured a permanent place.

“We are very grateful for the efforts by our partners and management in helping secure a permanent place as this would go a long way in facilitating operations,” she said.

She said the premises were convenient and described the event as a milestone as it coincided with the organisation’s 55th anniversary.

“This was a milestone in the history of the organisation and we are very satisfied. Coincidentally ZIM is celebrating its 55th anniversary and we hope to keep on promoting and developing best management and leadership practices,” said Mrs Sakone.

Zimbabwe Institute of Management is a non-profit making, membership based professional institute founded in 1957.
