THE Zimbabwe Junior Zone VI darts team had an opportunity to feel the boards when they held their practice sessions here yesterday.
The team is looking forward to start on a promising note at the fourth edition of the Zone VI darts Championships. Captain Dlakama has challenged his teammates to believe in themselves.
“We have some good teams and we practiced a lot for the event coming here and we are looking forward to winning medals,” Dlakama said.
“The team is well prepared and we had an opportunity to have a feel of the boards. I believe we have all what is needed to win the events and we will do our best to fly the country’s flag high,” added Dhlakama.
The team, which arrived on Tuesday, will go straight into business this morning when they take part in the team events from all the age groups.
The Zone VI Darts Championships features Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland and hosts Malawi.
The event was last held in Zambia some two years ago and Zimbabwe has this year come with players from the National Darts Association development programme. Boys and girls in the Under-15 and Under-18 age groups are taking part in the event.
Meanwhile, Zimbabwe will next year host the Seniors Darts Championships.
