Zim karatekas leave for Iran

THE pair of Samson Muripo and Admire Chingozhoro yesterday left for Iran where they will represent the country in the second Sokyokushin International Karate tournament Ohishi Cup set for tomorrow and Friday. Muripo will compete in the middleweight category and Chingozhoro in the open weight category. Zimbabwe So-Kyokushin Karate technical director Kumbirai Musinami said they would have wanted to field more karatekas in the event but could not due to limited resources.

Musinami said they believed the two karatekas would do well as they are seasoned fighters who have competed at events of such magnitude before.

Muripo, who is a former world champion, came fourth at the 46th All-Japan Karate Senshuken Taikai championships in April while Chingozhoro finished fifth.
