As they delve deeper into the world of pageantry, young models encounter various challenges.

From learning how to walk down the ramp with poise, to mastering different poses for photoshoots, they face moments of doubt and uncertainty.

But it is determination and perseverance that make them overcome obstacles.

Zimbabwe’s representatives at the just-ended fourth edition of the Little Mister and Miss Africa Continental finals held in Lagos, Nigeria, proved that the country has enough talent when it comes to modelling.

Through hard work and dedication, the little models honed their skills and raised Zimbabwe’s flag high by winning medals in various categories.

The competition which attracted 10 countries from the continent saw Tamar Kunashe Muchineuta, Aiden Murambidzi, and six-year-old Dellish Masango proving beyond doubt that the country has great potential.

It was Aiden who scored big as he was crowned the Little Mister Africa after outwitting nine other contestants while Tamar was crowned the Innovate Queen and Dellish was Toto Miss African second runner up.

Resources permitting,  more participants could have made it from Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe’s pageant director Shalom Museba said the future is bright for the young models and there is  need to support them.

“We had three participants from and some didn’t make it due to financial challenges. If we had sponsors, more could have come.

“Tamar has crowned the Innovate Queen and she won four crowns while Aiden was crowned Little Mister Africa, Mr Popularity, best talent, Mr Photogenic and Multimedia while Dellish was Toto Miss Africa second runner up.

“The competition was tough as 10 countries participated.

“The pageant is aimed at celebrating cultural diversity through pageantry.”

Museba said they are looking forward to hosting the pageant soon.

“I was impressed with how our models participated. They represented their country with passion.

“We need to continue grooming them from grassroots levels. But this can only be possible through sponsorship and support.

“Just imagine, we had some talented children who didn’t make it.”

She said the continental event gives each participant a unique experience and  helps boost their confidence.

“They do these pageants every year and last year we went to South Africa thus this year, Nigeria.

“We are looking forward to hosting the same pageant in the coming year in Zimbabwe.

“After this pageant, we will have contestants from Zimbabwe representing us as continental ambassadors.

“This means a lot to me seeing these little kids excelling at the continental stage, we just need  support since we have other kids who failed to participate due to lack of funds.”

Some of the countries that participated include Kenya, Sierra Leone, Zambia, Ghana, Lesotho, South Sudan, Uganda, Malawi and South Africa.

Participants from across the continent gather annually to strengthen friendship among countries, get to know the cultural heritage of other countries and the world at large, showcase their talents, and join forces in the quest to appreciate Africa’s diversity.
