A ZIMBABWEAN man, Emmanuel Mahamba, has been identified as the victim of a brutal murder in Sandton, South Africa.

The incident followed an altercation between Mahamba and the partner of a woman with whom he was reportedly involved.

Mahamba died at the scene and a disturbing video of the incident has been widely circulated on social media. The video depicts the driver of a Ford Ranger repeatedly running over Mahamba.

The killing reportedly stemmed from a love triangle involving Mahamba, a woman identified only as Ntombi and her partner. The confrontation took place at the partner’s shop on April 5.

Gauteng Police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said they responded to a report of a man who was found on the roadside with multiple injuries, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

“According to the information available, the victim reportedly argued with the shop owner and allegedly struck his vehicle with a brick, shattering the windscreen. The shop owner then reportedly drove over his body multiple times before fleeing the scene,” Nevhuhulwi said.

Moreboys Munetsi, a South Africa-based Zimbabwean lawyer, confirmed that Mahamba’s body has been repatriated to Zimbabwe.

He said that he was coordinating funeral contributions from the Zimbabwean community in Johannesburg to support Muhamba’s family.

“The body of Emmanuel has already been repatriated for burial in Zimbabwe,” said Munetsi.
