ZIMBABWE and Mexico are engaging in a historic first-ever high-level interaction, with Vice President Kembo Mohadi scheduled to arrive in the Northern American country today.

During his visit, VP Mohadi is expected to attend the inauguration of Mexico’s president-elect on Tuesday, where America’s First Lady Dr Jill Biden will also be leading a delegation from Washington.

Mexicans voted in June to elect their first female President, Claudia Sheinbaum, of the ruling party, Morena.

The 62-year-old former Mexico City mayor will succeed President Andres Manuel López Obrador.

The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Legislative Palace of San Lázaro in Mexico City. The high-level interaction between Zimbabwe and Mexico is testament to President Mnangagwa’s engagement and re-engagement policy.
