The upcoming Round 5 of the 2025 RK Fuels National Motocross series is set to electrify Donnybrook Park Raceway in Harare on Sunday.

This exciting event will once again bring together the country’s top junior and senior motocross riders at the iconic motorsport venue in Harare.

The dirt bike riders will use Sunday’s event as part of their final preparations for the 2025 FIM Africa Motocross of African Nations Continental Championship.

The FIM Africa Motocross of African Nations Continental Championship is an annual continental motocross event.

It’s a team competition where nations across Africa compete for the title. The 2025 event is scheduled to take place at Donnybrook Park Raceway from August 15 to 17.

Donnybrook Park has seen significant upgrades ahead of the Motocross of African Nations (MXOAN), scheduled for August.

An FIM Africa official was present during the fourth round of the Nationals event on June 15 to conduct a detailed track inspection, ensuring preparations are on track for hosting an international-level competition.

And with the African Championships just less than a month away, Zimbabwe’s veteran riders and rising stars are getting ready to compete against the continent’s best at this three-day event.

They will first sharpen their riding skills ahead of this continental competition when they congregate at Donnybrook this coming Sunday for Round 5 of the Nationals.

Motocross fans are set to witness an incredible display of talent as top riders from Zimbabwe go head-to-head with fierce competitors from Botswana and Kenya. From the raw power of the 450cc machines to the agility of the PW50s, every class promises nail-biting action and gravity-defying jumps.

In the seniors classes, nail-biting duels will once again be between the country’s top motocross riders Dougie Mellor, Ashley Thixton, Riley Rocher and Daiyaan “D” Manuel.

For the juniors’ section, all eyes will be on 10-year-old Victor Nyamupfukudza, who is leading in the 65cc Class and 5th in the 85cc Class.

On his day, Nyamupfukudza, who is trained by former motocross rider and motor rally driver Big “Bigs” Chitima, is just a joy to watch on the track.

Nyamupfukudza’s father and manager, Simbarashe Nyamupfukudza, yesterday told Zimpapers Sports Hub that his son was “Ready to Rumble” on Sunday.

“We have been practising well for this event this week and Victor is more than ready to burn the track on Sunday.

“He is itching to get on the track and hopefully he will get the top step on the podium in both the 65cc and 85cc classes.

“I’m urging his fans to come in their numbers and watch him in action on Sunday at Donnybrook . . . they won’t be disappointed,” Simbarashe Nyamupfukudza said.

Victor is now a Grade Six pupil at Elland Oak Junior School in Waterfalls.

There’s also Jayden Kerwin, Chris Mufanechiya and Elroy Shamuyarira in the 65cc Class; and Sab Wright, Kudzwai Chitsurura, Mufanechiya and Shamuyarira in the 85cc Class.

Budding motocross riders Judah and Mudiwa Sakupwanya will also be in action on Sunday.

The event is being organised by the Bogwheelers Club and one of its top officials, Jamie Kerwin, said yesterday that they are looking forward to another strong turnout and another day of great racing.
