Africa.

Chikwame said he was elated to represent Zimbabwe at a colourful film competition.
“I am so excited to represent Zimbabwe at such a big platform. Whether or not we make it to the finals is another thing, but our main thrust is to go there, mingle with experienced filmmakers and learn from them.

“It is a milestone for us and hopefully it benefits all the Zimbabweans,” said Chikwame.
He urged Zimbabweans to rally behind the movie and vote for it.

Other countries participating in this year’s festival include the DRC, Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa and the United States.
He said plans were afoot to make DVDs before showing on ZBCTV.

“Our market is very unpredictable and that is why we did not rush to produce DVDs for distribution.
“We want to use this opportunity to get the much needed exposure and start promoting it regionally then internationally,” he said.

“Dry Cry” is a romantic based on barrenness and infidelity. The film has been placed in the Feature Film category, but the event will also unleash best movies from other categories such as Short Movie, Documentary and Animation.
Cape Winelands Film Festival gives filmmakers a platform to showcase their skills and individual artistry.
