AFTER conquering the music industry both as a producer and singer, Botswana-based artiste, Dr Tawanda, real name Tawanda Kasaira, has set his eyes on helping upcoming talent in Zimbabwe.

The singer also had a few words of advice for established artistes, saying the reason our music industry is not really developing is because of pride.

“I am one of the best producers and musicians in Zimbabwe and l have worked with a lot of artists.

‘‘The reason these upcoming artists do not make it is because they have too much pride despite being talented.

“If you try to make a collaboration with them, they will tell you to talk to their managers and make themselves unavailable, yet havana anything to show.”

He also said Zimbabwean artists remain unrecognised internationally because they think they are too important.

“I once invited an artist for a gig and he started giving silly excuses and l dropped him.

‘‘Now look at me and look at those artistes; they are still where they were when they started.

“I and Mr Brown represent my country in South Africa. Let’s respect each other as artistes and support each other.”
