Zim pledges support on China Sea dispute

Zimbabwe has pledged its support for dialogue on the South China Sea dispute.

In a statement yesterday, the Foreign Affairs Ministry said it advocated peace among the nations involved.

“Zimbabwe has been following with interest developments in the South China Sea.

“Zimbabwe supports the peaceful resolution of the South China Sea dispute through friendly bi-lateral consultations and negotiations between the countries directly concerned, in accordance with the provisions of international law.

“Zimbabwe respects efforts made by China and the ASEAN countries to safeguard peace and stability in the South China Sea through dialogue.

“This is the only way in which a resolution can be found to this problem, which affects a number of countries in the region,” the Ministry said.
