ZIMBABWE have qualified for the World Amateur Golf Team Championship set to be held in Singapore from October 5-11.
A three-man team will be accompanied by a coach and a head of delegation as Zimbabwe make their third appearance after also making it to the competition in 2021 and 2023.
The competition will only have 36 countries, and the format of play will be stroke play over four rounds.
South Africa and Uganda are the only other African countries at the event.
The road to qualification was based on the local tournaments which are all registered on the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR). Countries are required to send the results within 24 hours of hosting the local tournament.
ZGA president Blessing Gandawa said they are happy with the qualification.
“Our qualification is not only a source of joy and pride to the generality of the population, but it also presents the local corporate world with an unmatched and unapparelled opportunity to partner us.
“It is in this regard that I would like to appeal to the captains of industry consider partnering with us so that together we can expose Zimbabwe to the entire global stage.
“Now that the dye has been cast, it is upon each and one of us to play their part in ensuring that Team Zimbabwe shines at this important global competition which will put the name of our beloved country on the world map,” said Gandawa.
