Zim rapper Rutendo Matsika charged with attempted murder in the UK

UNITED KINGDOM – A 32-year-old Zimbabwean rapper, Rutendo Matsika, known by his stage name Coll, has appeared before the Norwich Magistrates Court charged with attempted murder after a double stabbing.
Matsika was arrested and charged following an incident that took place late afternoon on Bank Holiday Monday when a man and a woman were attacked in Blackhill Wood Lane, Costessey, a town which is 4 miles north west of Norwich.
According to a police report by the Norfolk Constabulary;
“When officers arrived they found a man in his 40s with knife wounds and a woman in her 30s with head and arm injuries. Both victims were taken to hospital with serious but not life threatening injuries.
“A man was arrested and was taken to Wymondham Police Station for questioning. The suspect and victims were known to each other.”
Matsika of Church Road, Griston, was subsequently charged with attempted murder, GBH with intent, possession of an offensive weapon and possession of a bladed article.
He made an appearance at the Norwich Magistrates Court on the morning of Wednesday 28 August and was remanded in custody.
Wearing a black sweatshirt Matsika spoke only to confirm his name, age and address.
One of the victims, Craig Herron, who is in his 40s, was found with knife wounds and his injuries are believed to be life-threatening.
The second victim, Adrienne Herron, who is in her 30s, suffered head and arm injuries which are serious but not life-threatening.
The case is before Deputy District Judge Jacqui Appleton and a plea hearing has been scheduled to take place at Norwich Crown Court on September 25.
Defence solicitor James Burrows said he was making no application for bail which was “unsurprising” given the nature and seriousness of the offences. (nehandaradio.com)
