ZIMBABWEAN referees have once again been snubbed for a major continental tournament following the announcement of 11 referees and 14 assistants for the 10th Women Africa Cup of Nations set for Cameroon.
The tournament runs from November 19 to December 3 in the Cameroonian cities of Yaoundé and Limbe. Only female officials will take charge of the tournament.
It has been a while now since Zimbabwean match officials have been appointed for big tournaments, despite a number of them being on the Fifa referees’ list.
Zimbabwe has 17 match officials on the Fifa list, but a few have been appointed to handle club competitions, while some have never handled an international game since their secondment to the elite list.
Hosts Cameroon, Egypt, South Africa and Zimbabwe make up Group A, while holders Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya and Mali are in Group B.
