The Bippa was signed in November 2009.
Economic Planning and Investment Promotion permanent secretary Dr Desire Sibanda said that Government would soon engage its South African counterparts over the agreement.
“We signed a Bippa with South Africa, so we are making a follow up by reopening negotiations,” he said.
“We are sending a small investment mission. The meeting will be held sometime next month.”
Dr Sibanda said the meeting would also provide a chance to engage the South African business community on ways of enhancing and exploring new avenues of trade. Last month, Botswana provided US$70 million to local industries as part of a pledge that Gaborone made to support Zimbabwe’s economic recovery at the inception of the inclusive Government in 2009.
The facility is expected to stimulate capacity utilisation in industry, which is currently hovering around 40 percent. – New Ziana.
