club needed nursing like a baby.
The club will have its annual general meeting on 5 February.
Dzumbunu has business interests in Bulawayo where his company is headquartered and an expansion drive has seen him open branches in Harare and Kariba in Zimbabwe and Gaborone in Botswana and the latest addition being Lusaka in Zambia.
“It is with a sore heart that I leave the Saints executive. Pressing business commitments have led me to the decision. I will officially quit at the club’s annual general meeting.
“I would like to pay tribute to my colleagues for the effort they put and other people like Vincent Pamire who were behind us at the club,” said Dzumbunu.
During his tenure as chairman the usual Saints factionalism became a thing of the past with a committed membership pulling together.
He said while he could be out of club administration, he would remain a passionate soccer follower eager to help Zimbabwe Saints and the nation whenever he can afford.
Dzumbunu bought Saints a Premiership franchise last year from Eagles. The club then disposed of its Division One slot but a decision to fire Willard Khumalo and Agent Sawu coupled with the departure of seven key players saw the club being relegated.
He spent close to $100 000 in trying to revive a soccer brand that was at one time the heartthrob of Bulawayo football.
Saints will now campaign in Division One.
