adminIn a telephone interview from Harare yesterday, former Sables manager Noddy Kanyangarara, who is an administrator in the NRL, confirmed the developments.
The NRL programme has been on a break due to the Sables’ commitment during the Africa Cup and will resume on 18 August.
“We just received communication that the national Sevens team will have three competitions in Zambia, South Africa and Morocco next month. We had anticipated ending our season on 8 September but this is now impossible as on that very weekend the Cheetahs will be in Zambia.
“On a positive note, teams with outstanding matches have caught up with the rest and this will give us a smooth flow once the league games resume,” Kanyangarara said.
The last outstanding game was played last weekend at Hartsfield Stadium and Western Panthers shocked a star-studded Matabeleland Warriors who they beat 19-17.
The result left Matabeleland Warriors glued on second position with 45 points from 11 matches and trailing championship favourites Harare Sports Club by five points.
For the Matabeleland Warriors to play host to one of the semi-finals they have to finish their 14 matches either on top of the log or second.
From their remaining matches, Matabeleland Warriors have two tricky away encounters against third-placed Old Hararians and Old Georgians who are on fourth position. Their other encounter is against Western Panthers.

Week 12: Western Panthers v Airforce, OMs v Old Georgians, Matabeleland Warriors v Gweru (all matches Hartsfield), Harare Sports Club v Old Hararrians (TBA)
Week 13: OMs v Western Panthers (Hartsfield), Gweru v Old Hararians (Gweru), Airforce v Harare Sports Club, Old Georgians v Matabeleland Warriors (both matches at Old Georgians)
Week 14: Old Hararians v Old Georgians (Old Hararians), Western Panthers v Matabeleland Warriors, OMs v Harare Sports Club (both games Hartsfield), Gweru v Airforce (Gweru)
