Zim small-scale miner headlines Botswana Women in Mining Forum

Prominent Mashonaland West small-scale gold miner, Mrs Blessing Hungwe-Nharara is scheduled to address the two-day Botswana Women in Mining Forum in Gaborone this week.
The forum which is running from August 22 to 23, will be graced by that country’s Minerals and Energy Minister, Lefoko Moagi.

Other speakers at the forum include Air Botswana’s chief executive Ms Lulu Rasebotsa and Botswana’s national Tuberculosis Coordinator, Dr Tuduetso Mofeli.

Mrs Hungwe-Nharara, who is known for championing sustainable mining practices and leading the reclamation drive around mined areas, is one of the few women who are delivering gold to Fidelity Printers and Refiners.

She is turning a 20-hectare mining area in Banket into an avocado plantation and is expecting to start harvesting fruit from the trees planted under the first phase next year.

The Botswana forum will run under the theme: Mining beyond gender, fostering equality and inclusion in the mining and energy industry.
