adminA Zimbabwean squash team heads off to South Africa to take part in the annual Interprovincial Masters, a doubles tournament set for Pietermaritzburg.
One of the captains Peter Ward said the fine tuning had gone well for the competition in South Africa. Ward disclosed that they have managed to secure their own accommodation for the duration of the tournament which runs at several venues around Pietermaritzburg from Wednesday until Saturday.
“We have prepared by organising the team, training, sorting out accommodation and liasing with the South Africans,’’ said Ward.
Eleven Zimbabweans pairs are taking part in the event, the bulk of the players are from Harare. This is the 13th year that Zimbabwean squash players have been going to the competition meant for players aged 35 and above.
Last year, Zimbabwe finished in sixth spot out of the nine teams which took part.
Bulawayo players fine tuned for the South African Masters by taking part in the Old Miltonians doubles held last weekend which was won by the pairing of Trefor Williams and Mike Burns who beat Janeel Giga as well Matthew Mulaji 3-2 in the final.
