A high-level delegation from the University of Venda has arrived in Harare with the goal of strengthening educational and developmental ties between South Africa and Zimbabwe.

The visit marks a significant chapter in the university’s regional outreach efforts across the SADC community.

In an interview, University of Venda director marketing, branding and communications Dr Takalani Dzaga, emphasised the strategic importance of the visit.

“Our primary purpose is to reinforce our long-standing relationship with Zimbabwean stakeholders,” he said. “This engagement goes beyond academics; it’s about identifying collaborative opportunities to address shared challenges facing our region.”

Dr Dzaga said their week-long visit will see them having discussions on cross-border research partnerships and joint initiatives aimed at solving issues common to SADC countries.

The delegation celebrated one of its distinguished alumni, Professor Shadreck Muchaku, who now serves as an adjunct professor at the University.
