Mukuzvazva has convinced some of Britain’s biggest brands including BMW, the Marriott Hotel, John Lewis, Waitrose and CLARINS to sponsor a fashion show on Friday with proceeds going to the Zimbabwe Benefit Foundation and True Vision Foundation, which were established with the help of the film’s maker, Jezza Neumann.
The Leicester-based marketing student said: “Most people who watched the documentary were touched by it. I was as well.
“It was sad to see something like that in the country in which I was born and grew up in, the country that made me who I am and gave me opportunity. Like most, however, I took that away and locked it at the back of my mind. But this year, I thought: ‘what am I doing to make a difference?’
“So I looked to things I enjoy – fashion and beauty – to try and raise money.”
Mukuzvazva says getting sponsorship from big companies has been a “blessing from God”.
She has set a target to raise a minimum £2,500 from Friday’s event which is being held in a BMW showroom in Leicester.
