SHIHAN Amoda says she is expecting her team to shine in South Africa at the All-Africa Women’s tournament from August 13.
This will be the first Zimbabwean team to participate in a ladies’ full contact karate tourney.
South Africa celebrates Women’s Month in August.
In an interview with H-Metro, Amoda said:
“This is one of the biggest and first ladies’ full contact karate tournament for us.
“So, we are excited about it and we are looking forward to raising our flag high.
“We consider it an achievement to be a part of this event for the development of the sport and honouring the girl child in the country.
“I am happy with the progress my team has shown in our preparations.
“The team is focused and raring to go. We are preparing well and I am positive about everything.”
Amoda believes they can shine given all the support.
“It’s important for the girl child to represent her country.
“As pioneers, we want to win our debut tournament, which is an empowerment of the girl child.
“We have a few hiccups in our preparations such as travelling expenses, and we are requesting help from well-wishers out there.
“Financial support will be essential in boosting the team’s morale and making it possible for us to achieve our goals,” she said.
