TENNIS ZIMBABWE are set to field an eight-member team at the upcoming Africa Junior Championships due to take place this month in Tunisia.

The event is scheduled for November 21 to 29 and is catering for the 18-and-Under players.

The team is made up of four boys Ethan Sibanda, Lyle Zaloumis, Benedict Badza and Takura Mhwandagara and four girls Rufaro Magarira, Sasha Chimedza, Tadiwanashe Mauchi and Tanyaradzwa Midzi.

TZ manager Cliff Nhokwara said team selection was based on the International Tennis Federation rankings.

“It’s a team event. We have four girls and four boys who also qualify as a result of the ITF 18s ranking, which is then compared against other African players.

“So it’s pretty much the top ranked four boys and girls in Zimbabwe. The bottom line is they have a decent ranking which is quite favourable looking at the other rankings from other African countries,” said Nhokwara.

Most of the players were part of the three Cranrid International Tennis Federation World Junior Tour tournaments that ends on Saturday at Harare Sports Club.
