THE Zimbabwe women’s football team thrashed Malawi 10-0 at the SARPCCO Games at Gwambina Stadium yesterday.

Tafadzwa ‘Barak’ Tsunguro scored four goals, Lisa Tapiringana grabbed a brace while Alert Khumalo, Belinda Vheremu, Belinda Sibanda and Noreen Kodzwa each found the back of the net.

Zimbabwe will now meet Mozambique in the semi-finals.

Coach Martin Bonongwe said:

“The team played well and Tafadzwa has been nursing an injury but she still managed to score four goals.

“We have a strong team.

“It’s only that some of our players were left nursing injuries in our matches against Tanzania and DRC.”

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe collected two more gold, three silver and three bronze medals in athletics.

Isaac Mpofu took gold in a 21.1km men’s race, placing Zimbabwe firmly in position to defend their Games’ title.
