ZIMBABWE is scheduled to host the 10th International Civil Aviation Week (ICAO) and the African Indian (AFI) Ocean Aviation Week from May 26 to 30 in Victoria Falls.

This joint event provides a vital platform for African states and aviation industry stakeholders to discuss key aviation issues, aiming to enhance safety, security and development across the continent.

The event will gather a diverse group of participants, including ICAO member states, international aviation organisations such as IATA, industry leaders, airline operators, aviation equipment manufacturers, and technical experts.

The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development said this occasion is an opportunity for collaboration on critical issues shaping the future of aviation in Africa.

The AFI Week is expected to be officially opened by President Mnangagwa.

Notable attendees will include the President of ICAO, Mr Salvatore Sciacchitano, and the Secretary General of ICAO, Mr. Juan Carlos Salazar.

The hosting of this event is anticipated to promote the aviation sector, enhance Zimbabwe’s accessibility via air transport, and bolster the tourism industry, with over 300 foreign delegates expected to attend.

Zimbabwe is actively promoting the ICAO AFI Week ahead of the event.
