Zim U-20 steps up preparations

weekend the technical team released four players to turn out for their Premiership clubs.
Absent from yesterday’ training at Barclays Sports Club were the Black Mambas duo of goalkeeper Tonderai Mateyaunga and Farai Madora and Gunners’ Michael Ngwena.
Young Warriors assistant coach, George Madira, is happy with the way the players have responded after the morale-shattering first leg defeat.
Striker Walter Musona, defensive linkman Nqobizitha Masuku and captain Willard Kalongonda, did not take part in yesterday’s workout.
“Musona suffered a hip injury during last week’ training but he is recovering, as for Kalongonda he twisted an ankle in the first leg match at Rufaro and he is doing light training while Masuku has a minor knee injury,” Madira said. The Young Warriors welcome back inspirational central defender, Vincent Mbira, for the second leg. Mbira was suspended for the home leg. Madira believes the return of Mbira was a huge boost to the squad as his presence was badly missed in the first leg. The Under-20 technical team yesterday added Dynamos attacking midfielder Leeroy Murape to the squad. Murape took part in both the morning and afternoon workouts and was looking sharp. In the first leg we noted that the boys were creating chances but we could not convert them,” said Madira.
“The strikers have improved at training, it’s a positive sign.
“We need to emphasise the importance of concentration level by the defenders.”
