Zim women cricket team leaves for WC

They will play the Netherlands in their opening match before taking on Pakistan and they will bring the curtain down on their campaign against Thailand.
Coach Mluleki Nkala said his team has a good chance to make an impression.

“All our training went well, no injuries, and I believe the women will put in practice all what we did after having a good month of practice in camp.
“They also had a chance of getting some knowledge from the Australia ‘A’ team who shared their experience in cricket.

“The Australians told us about Ireland, what they must expect and I feel it is always good to share notes with an international experienced coach.
“The Australian team have been very helpful as it is good to always get words of wisdom from other players which in a way boosted our confidence.

“I am happy that everyone is ready, it has been a long month of preparations. I have been telling the ladies that the first game is important and we are facing Netherlands of which we are ready to put all our focus and effort in winning the first game,” said Nkala.

Captain Ashley Burddet said they were ready for the qualifiers.
“We are ready to play hard cricket and we are expecting to qualify for the World Cup.”

Team manager, Caroline Nyamande, said the weather conditions in Ireland would not affect her players.
“We heard that it is raining but that will not affect the team, we have practiced and played matches in the rains before,” said Nyamande.
