Addressing delegates at the launch of the Garden Projects for Epworth community in Harare yesterday, Cde Khaya Moyo said Zimbabwe was an independent state that should decide its destiny without external interference.
The Garden Projects are co-ordinated by a global humanitarian organisation of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, known as the Adventist Development and Relief Agency.
“I must state categorically that those NGOs who indulge in politics and are here to serve their Western masters in order to sow seeds of divisions among our people to achieve regime change agenda are unwelcome to this country,” he said.
“We entertain no interference in our internal affairs. We are a sovereign state and we welcome friends like ADRA, whose focus is to improve the quality of lives of our people. Those who serve lives serve God.”
Government, said Cde Khaya Moyo, had no problem working with NGOs that aimed at improving the livelihoods of vulnerable people in the country.
He said projects such as the Garden Projects would go a long way in helping the country achieve the Millennium Development Goals.
“The Government of Zimbabwe will always work in partnership with those NGOs who work for the promotion and implementation of development projects and issues that address the livelihoods of vulnerable members.
“It is also in the best interest of the community to work together with such institutions (ADRA) to bring about meaningful developments and improvements to our lives,” said.
Cde Khaya Moyo said urged Epworth residents to fully tap the benefits of the land reform programme to eradicate poverty and ensure food sustainability.
