THE Zimbabwe Music Awards will close entries for this year’s wards tomorrow despite failure by many artistes to submit their work.
In a statement, Zima production assistant Kganya Ndlovu said the organisation was calling upon all artistes who have not yet submitted their entries to do so before Friday August 8.
“Our entry window will be coming to a close on Friday the 8th of August and we are encouraging any artistes that have not entered to make their submissions so that they can be considered for the awards,” she said.
Ndlovu said the online submission process has been well received and has applauded Zimbabwean artistes for the response they got citing that Zimbabwean artistes all over the globe have been submitting their entries for the awards.
“So far the response has been great. We are getting entries from across the country and even outside from Zimbabwean artistes in South Africa and even in the UK.
“We are seeing a combination of up-and-coming and seasoned artistes coming in to make their submissions. The online submission process has been well received.
“Our artistes have shown that they are really excited about the event and are looking forward to the glitz and the glamour of the red carpet. Some are already planning their red carpet fashion so excitement is high,” she said.
The organisation also catered for out of Harare artistes who have no access to the internet by making forms available at Zimpost offices in all provincial post offices. The awards are set to be held in Harare on October 7. Zima honours outstanding musicians who specialise in different genres.
The ceremony was founded by Joseph Nyadzayo who also acted as the chairman.
