ZIMBABWE has submitted a bid to host the 2027 YouthConnekt Africa Summit, a move expected to enhance the country’s international profile, strengthen its diplomatic engagement across the continent, and showcase its commitment to youth empowerment and innovation.
The YouthConnekt Africa Summit is the largest youth gathering on the continent, convening an average of 6,000 young Africans each year.
The platform serves as a unique space for direct dialogue between policymakers, private-sector leaders, development partners, influential figures in arts and culture, and Africa’s youth on issues of shared interest.
Speaking at the post-Cabinet briefing on Tuesday, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Dr Zhemu Soda said the platform was established to connect young people across the continent.
“Cabinet considered and approved the bid for Zimbabwe to host the Youth Connekt Africa Summit in 2027,” he said.
“Youth Connekt Africa is a continental platform established to connect young people to economic opportunities, skills development, entrepreneurship, innovation, financial inclusion, mentorship and policy dialogue.
“The Summit provides a platform for showcasing innovation, sharing best practices, fostering partnerships and advancing youth development agendas.
“The Summit will enhance Zimbabwe’s international image and strengthen diplomatic and development cooperation with African countries and development partners.”
