Health, Disaster Risk Management Committee chairperson Councillor Jane Bhingari said city health teams have been deployed to manage the outbreak, provide treatment to affected individuals and intensify awareness campaigns in schools and communities.
“The situation is currently under control and no schools will be closed,” she said.
Measles is a highly contagious viral disease that causes a high fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, and a distinct red rash.
Measles symptoms typically appear 10 to 14 days after exposure to the virus. It spreads through airborne respiratory droplets.
It is one of the most infectious pathogens and although its preventable through vaccination, ongoing outbreaks continue to pose severe health threats worldwide.
