DEWURE and Chemhanza have the highest number of players in the 12-member Zimbabwe team which leaves the country tomorrow for a regional skills training camp in Pretoria, South Africa.
Chemhanza, Copa Coca-Cola Zimbabwe champions in 2013 and 2014 as well as last year’s winners Dewure contributed three players each for the camp to be held at the High Performance Centre. The players were identified by journalists who covered the national finals held in Gwanda in July. Ronald Master, Tafadzwa Musamba, Kelvin Chirema are the boys from Chemhanza while Dewure contributed their captain Edward Machinya, Lee Runodamoto and exciting midfielder Munyaradzi Matore. Not only was Matore the joint top goal scorer at the national finals but he also took the best midfielder award at the competition.
This year’s boys champions Rujeko have two of their players heading off to South Africa, these being Tatenda Jamu and Panashe Mapuranga who was voted as the player of the tournament in Gwanda.
Gwanda, Sobukhazi, Churchill and Mzingwane contributed one player each. Accompanying the team are Coca-Cola Zimbabwe market activation manager Vee Chibanda as well as National Association of Secondary Heads, headmaster in charge of football Albert Mucheka.
The regional skills enhancing gathering starts tomorrow and concludes on Friday, the same day that the Zimbabwean boys head back home.
Last year, Zimbabwean lads made an impression at the regional gathering also held at the HPC with Gifford attacking midfielder Tafadzwa Dhliwayo voted as the Team Player of the Tournament while Prince Edward’s Rodwell Manhungo took the Goalkeeper of the Tournament accolade.
