Zimbabwe Council of Churches march from St Mary’s to Seke Road accident scene

Remember Deketeke

Following last month’s devastating head‑on collision that claimed the lives of 17 people along Seke Road, members of the Zimbabwe Council of Churches are marching from St Mary’s Police Station to the accident scene in a demonstration of solidarity and a call for healing for the bereaved families.

Today’s march also seeks to raise road safety awareness.

Some of the denominations present include United Methodist Church, Methodist Church in Zimbabwe, Anglican, Salvation Army and Reformed Church in Zimbabwe, among others.

Participants are carrying placards with messages of compassion, road safety, and communal healing. Clergy members are leading prayers and hymns.

The crowd was met at the accident scene by local community leaders and affected families.

The accident, which occurred near Manyame Bridge, involved a haulage truck and a commuter omnibus that was going to Chitungwiza.
