Zimbabwe Cricket retain President Mugabe as patron

ZC Media and Communications manager, Lovemore Banda, said the delegates also adopted the chairman’s annual report and the 2012 audited financial statement.
The meeting also resolved that the country’s 10 provincial cricket associations will be empowered with effect from September 1, 2013, to administer, more effectively, the development programmes and club cricket in their respective provinces.

Banda said the decision would relieve the country’s five franchises and leave them to concentrate on their mandate, which is First Class domestic cricket. “Each provincial cricket association will have an area manager dedicated to it, and under the area manager will be development coaches. These positions will be funded and resourced directly by ZC.

This clear separation of roles and responsibilities will enhance the development thrust in each provincial association,” said Banda in a statement. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli has been named the captain of the Indian team in the upcoming tour of Zimbabwe.

India will be served by Parvez Rasool, Jaydev Unadkat, Mohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane on the tour.
India will start their five match One-Day International series against Zimbabwe at Harare Sports Club on July 24.

Harare Sports Club will host the first three matches while the final two ODIs are scheduled at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.

India squad:
Virat Kohli(c), Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Dinesh Karthik, Cheteshwar Pujara, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, Ajinkya Rahane, Ravindra Jadeja, Amit Mishra, Parvez Rasool, Mohammad Shami, R Vinay Kumar, Jaydev Unadkat, Mohit Sharma.
