TANZANIA-based Zimbabwean footballers, utility player Bruce Kangwa and striker Prince Dube will be hoping to inspire Azam Football Club to FA Cup glory when they take on giant Young Africans in today’s final.

Known as the Azam Sports Federation Cup (ASFC), the FA Cup final will be played at the Northern City of Tanga.
Today’s encounter is the last match of the 2022/23 season, with Azam hoping to end the season with silverware against league champions Young Africans.

The 26-year-old Dube, scorer of the winning goal when they knocked out giants Simba Sporting Club 2-1 in the semi-finals is expected to lead Azam’s attack, with skipper Kangwa stepping in on the left flank.

Dube, who scored a hat-trick in Azam’s last league match played on Friday as they clobbered relegated Polisi Tanzania 8-0 to take his season’s tally to 12 goals, will be hoping to cap a fine season with a medal.

Azam will have to be at their best against Caf Confederation Cup losing finalists Yanga, who lost the continental cup to USM Alger on an away goals rule after losing 2-1 at home before winning 1-0 away.

Young Africans booked their place in the final after edging Singida Big Stars 1-0 in the semi-finals.
Yanga are the most successful club in Tanzanian football history, having won 29 Tanzania Premier League titles and 22 FA Cups.

Azam FC are the second most successful club in Tanzanian football history, having won 17 Tanzania Premier League titles and four FA Cups.

The FA Cup final is the most prestigious cup competition in Tanzanian football. The winner of the FA Cup will qualify for the Caf Confederation Cup next season.

The match is expected to be a close contest, with both teams having a good chance of winning. Yanga will be looking to win their third consecutive FA Cup title, while Azam FC will be looking to win their first FA Cup title since 2019.— @ZililoR
