Harare magistrate Mr Vakayi Chikwekwe has postponed ruling on Zimbabwe Independent editor Faith Zaba’s bail application to tomorrow after he failed to type it due to power cuts.

Zaba is facing charges of publishing material that allegedly undermined the authority of the President.

During the bail hearing, the State initially did not oppose bail, with the prosecutor Takudzwa Jambawo citing medical records presented by the defence.

“We have no compelling reasons to warrant the State to oppose bail and we propose conditions that this court may consider,” Mr Jambawo said.

  1. What are these so called independent media practitioners think they are doing? You can’t just break the law and hide behind freedom of expression. Better fight the law to be amended instead of breaking it. There is no defence against breaking a law of a country. Stop this nonsense. Thousands before you tried it and failed. Some died and others languish in prisons all over the world. You cannot change things by breaking the law. What does one gain by spending days, even months in remand cells? Heroes aren’t made of this type of cartooning.
