Health and Child Care Ministry has launched a new Covid-19 vaccination card with improved security features in an effort to curb the sale of counterfeits.

The card will replace the old ones that were issued since the launch of the national vaccination programme in February.

The director of health informatics and data analytics in the ministry, Dr Simukai Zizhou said the card will be available in two forms; electronic and paper-based. The electronic one is linked to a Quick Response (QR) code which can be scanned for verification.

The security features on the new card include an invisible coat of arms which fluoresces under UV light, fluorescent numbering, watermarked security paper, micro text underground, a guilloche pattern and a variable QR code on the inside page.
