Zimbabwe-Mauritius Trade Mission kicks off in Port Louis

A Zimbabwean business delegation arrived in Mauritius on Tuesday for the five-day Mauritius-Zimbabwe Investment and Trade Mission. Organised by Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) and Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industries (MCCI) , the mission seeks to strengthen bilateral ties under the theme “Strengthening Mauritius – Zimbabwe Trade and Investment Partnerships within the Regional Economic Community Framework.” The main business proceedings begin today.

The Mauritius-Zimbabwe Business Forum today at Caudan Arts Centre will feature addresses ZNCC President Ms Josephine Takundwa and MCCI President Mr Patrice Marie. A Memorandum of Understanding will be signed between the chambers. The forum includes investment presentations and a panel discussion on agro-processing and export development.

Delegates will also participate in B2B matchmaking and a Welcome Dinner on Wednesday. Thursday features site visits to a technology hub, industrial sites, Jin Fei Special Economic Zone, and Port Louis Harbour. Friday includes cultural excursions to Citadel Fort Adelaide and Caudan Waterfront, with departures set for Saturday.

The mission is expected to unlock new partnerships, with Zimbabwean firms eyeing Mauritius as a gateway to Asian markets while Mauritian businesses see Zimbabwe as an entry point into Southern Africa. All eyes are on Wednesday’s opening ceremony as both nations pursue deeper economic collaboration.

The Zimbabwe delegation includes officials from the Ministry Industry and Commerce and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.

Some of the local firms and institutions in Mauritius include the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange, the Victoria Falls Financial Services Centre, Old Mutual Zimbabwe, Hippo Valley, Smartvest Wealth, and local authorities such Chinhoyi, Gweru, Masvingo, Earthlink Technologies, Rufaro Marketing among others.
