THE Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA) is taking the proposed Constitutional Amendment No. 3 Bill to its structures in all the country’s 10 provinces.
The Bill seeks to align election cycles with the country’s developmental goals and trajectory and extend the presidential term from five to seven years to ensure continuity in policy formulation and national development.
In an interview yesterday, ZLWVA secretary-general Cde Sam Parirenyatwa said the association was engaging its membership in various districts across the country.
“As war veterans, we are engaging our provinces. Information is coming from the district structures,” he said.
“Those districts are sitting, and after that, they will come up with their recommendations on the proposed amendments to the bill.
“Their position will then be taken to the provincial structures. The provincial recommendations will then be sent to the national executive, where we will compile a report on the position in that regard.”.
He said they have educated their members on the contents of the bill so that they understand its contents.
The Constitutional Amendment No. 3 Bill will lead to more comprehensive policies that address the needs of the people.
This will also ensure the completion of major infrastructure projects such as road rehabilitation, dam construction, and power generation initiatives under programmes like the Emergency Road Rehabilitation Programme and the Second Republic’s flagship developments
Zanu PF resolutions were formally submitted to the Government, which has since taken them to Parliament for consideration, reflecting the party’s commitment to constitutionalism and the rule of law.
Zanu PF is also engaging its party structures to educate its members to understand the importance of the Constitutional Amendment No 3 Bill.
