ZIMBABWE Saints interim chairman Lloyd Munhanga reckons morale is high in their camp ahead of the start of the Zifa Southern Region Division One action tomorrow.
Saints took over the Ciwu Division One franchise along with coaches and players, to remain in the division after folding in August last year.
Zifa expelled Chikwata who Munhanga was secretary-general of, after they had failed to pay their dues to the Zifa Southern Region and were not paying referees and fulfilling fixtures after benefactor fatigue hit them.
The start of the league’s games was shelved over a fortnight in a move that was reportedly meant to facilitate players’ proper registration on Fifa Connect.
The other clubs expelled along the yesteryear great Chikwata were Mountain Climbers and Emakhandeni Pirates.
Zimbabwe Saints, who are one of the country’s oldest football clubs, were re-admitted in the Southern Region Division One League last month following their merger with Ciwu.
Tomorrow, Zimbabwe Saints are scheduled to take on Johannes Ngodzo mentored Adachi at White City Stadium.
Adachi enjoy a sound sponsorship and have been on a recruitment drive that saw them get the signatures of veteran duo of Obidaiah Tarumbwa and Thabani Goredema .
“Morale is very high, we are looking forward to restarting this project on a high note. Everyone is optimistic that we can do better this time around. They are synergies that we have formed with either our club members or general people from outside.
We are still looking for more sponsorship and in that regard we want to change our image for the good. We are not a house that should have fights. We need to have one cause,” said Munhanga.
He added: “We are united, we want to make sure everyone moves in one direction and we want to play football. We would like to call our supporters to come and support us. They will really enjoy.”
Chauya Chikwata is under the guidance of Rodger Ndlovu who is assisted by Eneya Banda.
In other Zifa Southern Region Division One matches scheduled for tomorrow, last season’s first runners up ZPC Kariba will meet Mosi Rovers at Victoria Falls’ Chinotimba Stadium.
The league’s newboys Zebra Revolution, will travel to Hwange for their date with DRC United at Empumalanga’s Nengasha Stadium.
