Zimbabwe has clinched First Runner-Up spot in the Best International Stand category at the ongoing Zambia Travel Expo (ZATEX) 2026, a significant achievement that underscores the country’s growing influence in regional tourism promotion and destination marketing.
The prestigious expo, which ran from 4-6 June in Zambia brought together tourism stakeholders, exhibitors and industry leaders from across the region and beyond to showcase diverse tourism products and strengthen partnerships within the sector.

In a statement celebrating the achievement, Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry said “Zimbabwe has proudly been awarded 1st Runner-Up in the Best International Stand category at the ongoing Zambia Travel Expo (ZATEX) 2026, a remarkable recognition of the country’s Innovative Destination Marketing and commitment to Regional Tourism integration.”
The accolade reflects Zimbabwe’s strategic efforts to position itself as a leading tourism destination while promoting collaboration within the Southern African region.
According to the statement, “The award highlights Zimbabwe’s role in advancing Southern Africa as a seamlessly connected Regional Tourism Destination while showcasing the richness of its Heritage, Culture and Gastronomy.”
Zimbabwe’s exhibition stand stood out for its creative and engaging presentation of the country’s unique tourism offerings, drawing interest from visitors and industry professionals throughout the event.
The country’s participation placed special emphasis on cultural heritage, authentic experiences and culinary tourism, spotlighting diversity that makes Zimbabwe a compelling destination for both regional and international travellers.
“Through immersive cultural storytelling, the Zimbabwe stand captivated visitors with the magnificence of Great Zimbabwe and authentic Culinary experiences featuring indigenous delicacies such as mhandire, mutetenerwa and maputi, demonstrating how the country’s living heritage continues to create unique, sustainable and memorable Tourism experiences for Regional and International Tourists alike.”
The recognition is expected to further strengthen Zimbabwe’s visibility on the international tourism stage while reinforcing its commitment to sustainable tourism development, cultural preservation and regional integration.
