Zimbabwe will next week host the Regional Construction Summit to help foster collaboration, knowledge sharing, and identify opportunities for growth within the region.
The summit is being organised by the Zimbabwe Building Contractors Association (ZBCA) and is scheduled to take place between November 27 and 30 in Victoria Falls.
It will run under the theme “Leveraging investment in infrastructure as a catalyst for economic growth” and will bring together key stakeholders in the construction industry, Government officials, investors, and international experts,
ZBCA is a non-profit national organisation established in 1985 to represent emergent building contractors in various fields.
In an interview, ZBCA president Dr Tinashe Manzungu said Zimbabwe’s construction industry contributes significantly to job creation, infrastructure development, and overall economic growth.
“Like many other sectors, the sector has faced challenges in recent years, including economic instability, policy changes, and material shortages. The summit seeks to address these.
“The summit will draw delegates from all SADC countries. The theme of the summit aligns with Government’s plans to modernize the country’s infrastructure, which is crucial for attracting foreign investment and boosting economic activity.
“Hosting the Regional Construction Summit positions the country as a regional hub for the construction industry, attracting investment and expertise,” he said.
“It also provides a platform for local contractors to showcase their capabilities and connect with potential partners. The summit will also generate valuable insights and recommendations that can inform Government policies and industry practices,” said Dr Manzungu.
He said the summit has the potential to revitalise Zimbabwe’s construction industry.
