ZIMBABWE will resume direct flights between Harare and London by the end of this month, ending a 14-year absence of a direct air link between the two destinations.

Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Dr Zhemu Soda announced the development during the Post-Cabinet Media Briefing in Harare on Tuesday, saying the airline would initially operate three weekly flights using an Airbus A330-300 aircraft from Plus Ultra in Spain.

“The airline will resume operations by the end of July 2026 and will utilise the leased Airbus A330-300 aircraft from Plus Ultra in Spain with a combined 302 seats, having a configuration of 30 business class and 272 economy seats,” said Dr Soda.

He said the airline would initially operate three weekly flights to London on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

The resumption of the route marks a major milestone for Zimbabwe’s aviation sector, restoring a direct connection between Harare and London after more than a decade.

Dr Soda said the development demonstrated the benefits of President Mnangagwa’s engagement and re-engagement policy and reflected Government’s efforts to position Zimbabwe as a competitive destination.

“This positive outcome demonstrates the utility of His Excellency the President’s engagement and re-engagement policy and is a testament to his continued commitment to positioning Zimbabwe as a competitive destination,” he said.
