ZIMBABWE volleyball teams will take part in the Six Nations Beach Volleyball tour in Botswana, at Molapo Crossing Tropika beach complex.
The tour, dated 25 to 26 January, will see southern African beach volleyball clubs from Zimbabwe, Zambia, Swaziland, Mozambique, South Africa and the hosts Botswana fighting for top honours.
Zimbabwe Beach Volleyball coach Kudzai Sibangani said the tournament was open to all local and international teams and a great opportunity for the folks to work on their shortcomings and also try out new tactics.
“The zone being a powerhouse means competition will be stiff which gives a chance to other players to prove they can compete on the big stage and get the results. Our teams are starved of game time and this is an opportunity to compete and grow as individuals and also as a group,” said Sibangani.
Zimbabwe ladies beach volleyball team scooped silver medals at the Beach Volleyball (BVB) Sub Zonal Qualifications in Maputo last week, while the men’s team failed to make it through falling to Mozambique and Zambia.
The ladies have a chance to qualify for the Olympics as they still have another round to play ahead of the Tokyo Olympics and Sibangani said the tour came at the right time and could be used to get more lessons.
