Zimbabwe turned its 45th Independence Day celebrations in Nairobi into a strategic platform for advancing regional ties, signalling a renewed push for economic and diplomatic cooperation with Kenya.
Addressing dignitaries and citizens during the Uhuru belated celebrations, Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to Kenya, Uganda and Somalia, Winpeg Moyo described the event as more than a commemoration.
“This celebration is a statement of intent; we are ready to strengthen partnerships across the region, with Kenya as a key ally,” she said.
Ambassador Moyo said the theme, “Devolve and Develop Together Towards Vision 2030”, highlights Zimbabwe’s commitment to inclusive development and regional integration.
She praised both President Mnangagwa and President William Ruto for steering bilateral relations in promoting trade, agriculture and infrastructure.
“Zimbabwe is open for business, and Kenya is a strategic partner in realising Vision 2030,” Ambassador Moyo said.
The event also celebrated the role of the Zimbabwean diaspora in Kenya, whose economic contributions are helping drive progress back home.
By commemorating its national milestone on Kenyan soil, Zimbabwe sent a clear message that regional cooperation is central to its future.
