HISTORY has landed.
Zimbabwe’s women’s cricket team is back home after scripting a golden chapter on foreign soil — clinching a landmark T20I series win over the USA and firing a loud warning shot ahead of the ICC World Cup Qualifiers.

Fresh from the skies and flushed with victory, the Lady Chevrons touched down from their first-ever bilateral tour of the United States, where they played three T20s and two ODIs at the Prairie View Cricket Complex in Texas.

The result? A 2–1 T20I series triumph, with the ODI series finishing level. But the scoreline only tells part of the story.
This was a tour soaked in significance, breaking barriers, building confidence, and birthing new heroes.
One of those heroes? None other than Loreen Tshuma, who lit up Texas with a memorable, heart-pounding career-best knock of 130 — a score that will echo through Zimbabwean women’s cricket for years to come.

“I cannot really explain how I’m feeling. I’m over the moon!” she said, eyes glistening with pride. “I’ve played in many countries since 2015, but this is the first time I’ve hit a hundred. I’m looking forward to more.”
And so is the nation.

High Performance national coach Steve Mangongo was all smiles as the team returned to local turf, brimming with belief and experience.

“We actually won the T20 series 2–1, and this forms part of our bigger development pathway. We’re happy the girls are back home safe,” said Mangongo. “It’s also excellent preparation for the World Cup qualifiers. We’ve gained crucial experience that we’ll carry into the future.”

But this wasn’t just about cricket. It was about growth. About stepping onto the world stage with purpose. About flying the Zimbabwean flag high in a land thousands of miles from home, and leaving with more than just runs and wickets.

The tour gave the Lady Chevrons something numbers can’t measure: international exposure, hunger, and belief.
With the ICC World Cup Qualifiers set for October, the Texas tour has given Mangongo’s charges the perfect tune-up and a morale boost that money can’t buy. Cricket fans back home will remember this series not just for the scoreboard, but for what it symbolises: Zimbabwean women’s cricket is no longer knocking on the door. It’s stepping through it.

THE STATS THAT MATTER:
l T20I Series: Zim 2 – USA 1
l ODI Series: Drawn 1–1

lStar of the Tour: Loreen Tshuma (130 runs – career best)
Now the countdown begins for October.
With a hundred in their hearts, a win in their pocket, and fire in their bellies, the Lady Chevrons are no longer just participating.

They’re here to take over.
