Tanea Nyika
To make a nation’s future,
Speak to her youth
One who doesn’t see the future now,
Will always mortgage the present
And reach in the future a captured soul.
Fertile lands she has,
But her sons hooded in packs,
As elders appreciate the waters of the Save River,
Her sons are ever high of substance that make them shiver.
Zimbabwe,
It’s her tears that evaporate,
In the smoke that thunders,
Heart sinking at her children’s blunders,
In dark alleys shedding blood for mutoriro,
A motherland rich from Zambezi to Limpopo,
But morals now dropping low,
A culture now just for show,
She yearns for her youths to give more.
They say united we stand divided we fall.
But it’s better to stand divided than fall united
Supporting this generation’s wrongful acts.
Ubuntu now a once upon a time.
But the Shona spoke, “Takabva neko kumhunga hakuna ipwa.”
Same advised friendly Tanzania, “Ili uweze kuelewa njia niliopitia,
Uliza yule aliowayi kuipitiya.”
The neighbouring Tswana emphasized, “Mabogo dingu thabapa .”
And Ndebele urge, “Indlela ibuzwa kwabaphambili.”
Appreciated as all nations gather in our motherland.
A nation open for business.
Fathers toiling in dark tunnels,
For in the end there’s always a light.
We stay together, we fight, we survive.
Vene veZimbabwe.
